Brotha Jay....man, I am so sorry to hear that you and your baby had a mishap. I am glad that you are well enough to type though. Those pics that you posted wanted to make me cry.....she looks messed up pretty bad. Looks like rear sub frame, and probably fork damage as well. What injuries do you have? Can you tell us what happened?

Just take it easy and get well brotha....as the old adage goes, bikes can be replaced, you cannot.

    RVFR,
I hate to see a rider downed and, as a fellow Northwesterner, I have every confidence it was likely induced by our local cagers not that it makes the outcome any different, glad you're at least okay enough to post up for the rest of us to share your misery! Heal fast and well.

This is Jay's Daughter, Jennifer, typing...and this is the reason why...

A deer jumped out in front of the bike and I T-Boned it at about 60mph. The deer obviously died on impact, luckily I didn't. I tumbled/slid with the bike for about 180ft. I landed in the grass in a someones yard, the bike slid a little further and backed itself into a pole, accordion style.

    Stupid f-ing deer...

The road happened to be freshly chip sealed, which basically acted as a cheese grater. shredding everything that came into contact with it. If you tripped on this stuff you would get scrapped up.

Even though I was wearing an padded riding jacket I still have MANY scrapes, cuts, and bruises. This just goes to show you, even wearing protection doesn't mean your safe!!!

Everybody be safe....Keep an eye out for deer...

P.S. Yes Randy, this means no Vancouver and yes Randy you can still come for hot chocolate

First off, Im so glad your still with us!
Second, you really should have followed my instruction about modding your rear sub frame if you wanted to copy my undertail ( yours is not the correct way)
Third - I have a good sub frame and its yours :)
Fourth - Are you flipping off that deer? hard to tell with those stubs....
Fifth - How and the hell did you wind up with the rash? I thought you always had your leathers on?
Sixth- get well soon and let us know if you need ANYTHING!

Jeez, NW deer are even scarier than NW Saturn drivers! Looks like you at least got to flip that sucker the bird post-mortum LOL, probably didn't make you feel much better huh? I'll flip his dead ass off too if I get the chance. Feel better, glad you're (sorta) okay.

Sorry to see this Jay. I've never met you, but certainly feel as i know you well enough to care. Guess its best that the Deer got the bad end of this deal.

The road looks like it took its toll in a big way. When your up to it, id like to know what gear you had on. It looks like it was no match for that surface. We all need to take something away from your experience, and ATGATT obviously can never be skimped. Even with, our risk is high.

    Heel up well.

Well, I just spoke with Jay on the phone and he is in good spirits considering what happened and the injuries that resulted. The good news is no internal injuries. He was also wearing full gear (textile jacket and pants, and textile/leather gloves). From the sounds of it, the road condition might have added significantly to his road rash injuries. The road was very abrasive from fresh chip seal. He was talking about a "cheese grater" effect. Just imagine what would have happened without any gear on. I'm sure that Jay (or his daughter Jennifer) will probably keep us updated on his healing process. Maybe he will be the first one with a 7th gen VFR.

    :vtr2:

Best wishes to a speedy recovery brotha Jay! I need to get up there for another VFRW dinner!

    Take care,

Kerist Jay! You must have just shit when that thing came into sight. Deer are scarey things. Hit one myself but in a police car, not a bike. And it was an Island deer which are the size of a german shepard. But it did some nasty damage to the car. Jay, you are a lucky man. You should buy lotto tickets too.

Saw a video somewhere of a bike hitting a deer at high speed. Split the deer right in half. I think the rider walked.

Could have been worse though Jay. That could have been Sasquatch you hit.
