Well I dropped my beloved 86 VFR750 I am really too mad to say much now. Here is what happened I was washing it on the centerstand so I could lube the chain when I was done. Then I got it all set hopped on to get it off the stand my foot slipped in soapy water and down it went on me. The fiance/nurse checked me out and said it was not broken so I did not go visit her work so I am good there. As for bike damage it is not huge but enough the side fairing is scrapped and a little crack at the mounting bolt. One of the windshield mounts broke. and the rear seat cover has 2 small cracks. Still deciding if I want to fix or replace. Also the vtr 100 muffler took a little damage and the JB weld I was using as a high temp bondo it now cracked. Thats all for now GRRRR. I think I am gonna cry.

Looks like the only thing I HAVE to replace is the break lever and a decal but some good glass and paint work will be needed to cure the rest.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. Sounds like easy fixes, however. Glad you are ok.

Sorry to hear about the mishap. I also have an '86 750, so I can relate as to how I would feel if I did the same thing. I'd rather have my '07 tip over rather than my '86 because it would be easier and cheaper to fix. Finding parts for the '86 is very difficult. Bodywork and even most of the stickers are long gone. I try to buy them up whenever I come across them. I have two brand new tanks and some bodywork for the '86 sitting in my basement. Good luck with the repair.

Just to rub some salt in those still fresh wounds: you should lube your chain when it's warm.

HEY MIDAS; I feel for you man, but I did the same thing last friday. I was at an intersection behind a semi truck, the guy in the truck took three backups to make the corner, finally when he did, my light had changed to red. I shouldnt have been in a hurry ,but I kinda was,so I tried to beat it thru the intersection, anyway a car coming from the opposite direction tried to get a jump on his light.that put us on a low speed colision course. I hit my front brake hard and slid on some cinders and down I went. A guy helped me get my bike up. He kept asking me are you ok,I was so pissed at myself I couldnt talk, but he kept asking so finally I nodded my head got on my bike without surveying the damage and rode off. Anyway I bent the brake lever and added a few scratches on my right fairing put a couple scratches in the engine case and scratched the mirror. Minor injuries to the bike but my ego really took it, the rest of the day I was bummed. I think we take such pride in our machines that we really take a hit when something happens to them, especially when its our fault. anyway sorry to hear about your mishap. eddie

I feel your pain. Last year while driving out the axle on my tractor my 2 year old son decided to "help" by banging on my VFR with a 2x2 baluster. He cracked the upper Right cowel and the left and right mid cowel. It is amazing how fast a 2 year old can damage a VFR. Carry on, at least it can still be ridden and that is what we are in this for.

Thanks guys I will probably temp fix it with glass for now and then decide what to do this winter. Probably new panels but not sure if I am going cobalt racing or who right now. Any suggestions please tell me. Also I will probably order a new cowel from the dealer. Any clue if they can still be bought?

I am also hoping my leg stops hurting soon but it is getting better every day. On the + side I am getting some good time in with the Magna now.
