Thought it interesting watching the news footage today that UKs controversial Ex PM Margret Thatcher was given a ceremonial procession escorted by a flock of white VFR 1200s.

Neither will some Argentinians. Don't know a lot about her politics but she took a stand when the IK needed to. Even if is was just for a couple pieces of rock. Security for her when she was here in 1987 for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings in Vancouver was second only to Ghandi. He was later assassinated. That was the highest security event that we had taken care of in history at that time. Helos, aniti aircraft weaponry, thousands of police, military and you name it, all over. Was an experience.

The pieces of Rock wasn't as important as the fishing and potential gas reserves around it and not being at all shy she also told Regan to get lost when he asked her not to retake the island by force.

The only people that are glad she died are coal miners, and people who wern't even born when she was in power...make that one out.
People only seem to care about the bad things someone does, even if it is for the greater good or a good cause, they forget about the good things they did.

Enough of turning this into a political rant, I did notice the VFR on tv this morning and smiled :)

I wasn't a coal miner but I was alive when Maggie was in power. I am however glad that "The Wicked Witch Is Dead".
I live in a coal mining area and I have seen the devastation that her policies brought upon us. When pits close you not only loose the mine but youlose a community as well. The knock on effects are unbelievable. Shops close, the industries that once supplied many items to the pits close with the obvious knock on effects being multiplied all over again.
The tories shut my local pit (Maerdy, Rhondda) and the pit over the mountain called Tower Colliery as being uneconomical. The miners used their redundancy money and bought Tower back to re-open as a private concern against the wishes of the Tory government. They sucessfully ran the pit for a further 13 years providing employment and boosting the local economy.
Heres a link to the wikipeia entry Tower Colliery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Very often this sort of industry is all a valley community will have due to its geographical location.
    Rant Over

Nice spotting, I wouldn't have seen the VFR's as I wouldn't want to watch anything of her funeral, its just good to know she has finally gone!!

I have sympathy with Carol and Mark on the loss of their mother (I've lost my parents) but thats as far as it goes

Of course the VFR 1200 is the perfect government bike. It's overpriced for what you get. (Or so many threads here say). IMHO they should all be on BUSA's.

    P.S. I couldn't find the sarcasm font.
