    Hello,

After 5 years of riding, I'm going to have to put it off for awhile as I can't find time to ride anymore. My 2000 VFR lays sitting still, and I cannot stand the sight of it doing so anymore. After I tried to start it up one day to go for a quick ride, it had issues. My clutch will not disengage, and the bike will not start anymore (it was sitting still during the winter months and did have the fuel stabilizer poured in).

    1. Clutch: I did notice before I stopped riding that the clutch would never fully disengage. Now, the clutch won't even disengage...the clutch handle doesn't do anything, it's as if it's not hooked up to the line. I did read to check for holes in the line but did not find any; I also had a zip-tie hold the handle in for 24 hours but that did not work. Do I need to get a new Master-Slave assembly, or worse new clutch plates?

    2. Starting:
I do have a new relay (30A is okay), new battery, the KILL switch is not engaged, I do try to start in Neutral, I have the VFRness installed, and I have not laid the bike down. I have also cleaned off all the ground connections. The bike will not start, the lights come on and I do hear the relay click but it won't even fire. Is there a sensor that might be causing this, or perhaps the kick-stand switch is sticking?

Please help anyway you can so I can send this beauty to a rider who can ride it. :pout:

I would check to make sure the piston in your slave cylinder isn't binding, if it is, you'll probably need to clean it and probably get a new seal kit. The last time I tried to bleed my clutch, a huge air bubble got stuck in the line and make the lever pretty much useless, so a thorough bleed would probably be a good idea. I would look to the sidestand switch for your starting problem.

Thanks! I was also going to take off the fairings and take a look at the sensor that by the headlights as well. I'll update this when I have time to look at the bike this weekend, the weather hasn't been too friendly down here as of late.

Got it all sorted out yesterday. Kickstand checked out OK with continuity in the up position and open in the down position. The spark plugs were fouled and had oily deposits on them, I'm guessing that I need to adjust the idle. I also took apart the slave cylinder, looks like the seal was leaking some and the clutch fluid REALLY needed to be changed out.
