    Hi All

Just a background last week someone tried to steal my vfr750 started pushing it away and two of my work buddies noticed it was my bike and chased him off causing him to drop the bike and got minor fairing damage.

Anyway after we recovered the bike i noticed where the key goes there is just a hole now. so i am wondering if the ignition has just been pushed down somehow to get by the steering lock or if its been pulled out somehow

I have not had a chance to have a proper look as the police have taken it away to take fingerprints.

So will i need to buy a new ignition or will the old one be in the bike somewhere so when i go and pick it up i can just drive it away Rather than having to get it recovered.

Also if i do end up having to buy a new one how easy are they to fit?

Thanks in advance for any help

Glad your co workers are alert, I believe you owe them lunch at a minimum.

Yes you need to replace it... no, its not there, its in the grass somewhere... trash.

Keep in mind now you will need two keys for your bike. one for the ignition, and one for the gas tank, and seat. A good locksmith can reset the ignition so that it matches the tank.... its costly though.

Its not that hard to change. 4 bolts or so. some wire connections, and your right side cover possibly. either way, its not like you are tearing down the engine to do a clutch replacement.

    remember, you are very lucky.
