    HI there

I've recently brought my VFR800fi 01 to Austria from Ireland. In Austria you must do a test and the lights failed as they were pointing to the wrong side of the road (blinding other road users). I am now on the right side and I must get a new EU light as you cannot adjust the current one.
Is there any alternatives or will i have to buy a new light for €337?

I've read somewhere that all the lights are the same (evenly balanced)

    Thanks

Can you not just use the headlight beam bender sticker?

If they won't allow you to use the stick on beam deflectors sold online and on most cross channel ferries, then eBay or a motorcycle breakers yard are your best bet for a cheaper alternative.

You might want to check back over recent posts on here. As I recall at least one Stateside 5th gen had taken a tumble and was being broken for parts. If nothing else it might be worth putting up a parts wanted post in the Classified section.

This eBay listing looks like it might be a slightly cheaper option - although once you add in postage from the Netherlands it may be very similar cost.

I got a German import back in 2001 and managed to convert it at zero cost easily enough. Remove the headlight unit and take out the bulbs.
The part of the reflector that shines light up on the right is at the lower left (or lower right as you look at it from the front). Luckily it's recessed.
Get a small can of matt black high temp stove paint and using a syringe with a small flexible hose inject some into the recessed part. Swirl it around until the recess is completely coated. Pour out any excess through the bulb hole. Leave to dry and then do the other side. You can see in the photo below. Be careful, if you get it on the wrong part you won't get it off.
You'll have a flat top to the beam, good for any country in the world !

Yours of course is the other way round. Recess on the left as you look at it.

Hi guys. Thanks very much for your replies. I will try what you have recommended with the paint. It had to go through the test again. Supposedely the light is shining to the wrong side of the road, blinding other road users. Will this blacking out eradicate the problem? Cant seem to find anything seconf hand online for EU light :-o

    Thanks

Do you speak any French? I spotted this new advertisement yesterday on a major French small adds website.

    http://www.leboncoin.fr/equipement_moto/856620917.htm?ca=22_s

The seller (Flavien) is based in Nantes (Western France) and is currently breaking a French VFR800 (2000). Apart from the swing arm everything else is available for sale... so hopefully if you are quick you might be able to get a suitable headlight for your VFR.

To register any motorbike in France the headlight lenses must be either the flat top/universal style or set up for mainland EU roads. Either option should be acceptable for your needs.

Obviously this website is mostly designed for local small adds sales, unlike eBay, so if you want to follow up and send Flavien an enquiry you need to go through the Leboncoin website link above. There you can request Flaviens phone number and speak to him direct, or if you prefer, you can send him a message via the website with your phone number/email details explaining what parts you want and where you want them posted to so he can contact you with a price for a paypal sale. The second option allows you to prepare your message in English and then use one of the online translation programmes like BING to produce a suitable text to send to the seller.

    Good luck
