I was thinking about ditching the stock cluster setup for something different. Anyways, an aftermarket cluster uses a magnet on the rear sprocket to get the speed.

Am I correct in understanding the only modification needed to run a front f1 or f2 wheel is so that the speedometer works?

If not, what else is involved in the process?

You can modify the countershaft cover to run a 3rd gen speedometer pickup, and use a speedometer from an 86 VFR (round type). On that model, the speedometer could be unbolted from the tach. Then run any wheel you want(with the right spacers/rotors)

    deepdish is reading my mind...

I guess I should rephrase this though --

This is obviously for the front wheel. And I don't care about keeping the speedometer functionality. So in that case, what modifications are still needed to be done to get an F1 or F2 front wheel to fit? Just a set of spacers? Where can I order up a set?

There are no issues with getting the speedometer to work with either the F or F2 wheel (F1 is different, BTW). Here are some details:

Hurricane CBR600F - All you need is a new right side spacer and modifications to the speedometer drive gearbox. The latter is because the gearbox itself is used as the spacer on the left side of the wheel, that's the only reason it needs to be modified.

F2 - You need the above changes as well as machining to the wheel itself. The rotors are spaced too wide apart, you need to move them close together in order to line up properly with the VF's calipers. The F2 rotors are bigger than the VF500's so you will need to run the VF500 parts. They bolt directly to the F2 wheel.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for the info Jamie. I need to find an F1 wheel. I can't believe I passed one up on ebay for about $40 shipped. =/

I'll just be patient and do it over the winter.

On a side note, I did score the F2-style fairings off ebay both sides for 70 shipped!

I've got one (white), shoot me a PM if you are interested.

Edit: I have a Hurricane wheel (CBR600F) The F1 wheels are UBER rare, I've only ever seen one in all the years I've been doing the wheel swaps. That's why I don't offer a kit for it.

Is this the 3 spoke 17" hurricane wheel that looks like the standard vfr Jamie? I have one of those and didn't know what best to do with it. I'll send you pics so you can tell me, ok?
