I had an unfortunate parking-lot tipover of a FZ1 right next to my 1986 VF500F. The only damage was the windscreen popped of the FZ1 breaking its plastic bolts, and something scraped away the VIN number from the VF500F's VIN tag on the frame. I don't think I could have scraped away just the VIN number if I had tried, but that's what happened. I'm really hoping the VIN is stamped somewhere else on the frame, but where? If not, is there any way to get a new VIN tag created?

the Vin is on the neck of the frame, and no you can't get a new tag but you can get one made up at a trophy shop with the number ingraved on it.

Thanks! I was afraid I'd have to find a titled frame and move everything over if I ever want to sell it!

Ya. You could do that. Nothing illegal about that but should that ever get checked by the police, it would sure raise a whole pile of red flags and likely cause you a fair delay while they go over your bike. Unless of course you put your new fabricated VIN tag near but not in place of the original. That way, the original one is there for reference and the new one would be just for clarity and easily explained.
