Has anyone disassembled and reassembled a VF500F muffler?

I recently found a clean pair of stock mufflers to replace the rusted and repainted ones it has now. One of the new ones has a small dent in the side, and I'm wondering if it's feasible to drill out the rivets in the back and remove enough of the guts to get something behind the dent so I can work it out. And, of course, get it all put back together.

    Any advice?

Never seen that but be interested in seeing what you find. Maybe try it on one of the rusted ones first?

I modified my stock mufflers slightly. I drilled out the rivets on the end cap and removed it. Then I cut shorter that long skinny pipe attached to the end cap (youll see it). Then I reinstalled it and re-riveted it back in. It made the sound a bit raspier (is that a word?) which i like and i guess it allowed the exhaust to flow a bit better. I didnt mess with anything else inside.
