As soon as i turn on the ignition of my VF500F, the cooling fan starts. It remains on all the time that the igntion is on whether the engine is running or not. What is the sensor that turns the fan on and off? Has anyone run into this problem?

    Thanks

    Mike

there is a switch that screws into the lower corner of the radiator. The switch completes the circuit to ground and allows the fan to run. If the switch was stuck closed then the fan would run all the time.

However, it was very common for people to wire in their own switch bypass so that they could turn the fan on early in traffic. Look around the bike for some other hidden and undescribed switch.

Check the thermostat which is what Tink is talking about. I had the opposite problem with one of my 500s a while back. It was stuck off. I swapped it out with a new one which resolved it.
