Vf500 rear engine downpipes

Hi guys
Can you confirm which one goes to which side. One pipe has a performed indent and I don't know which side it goes on ?

Not sure exactly what you mean, but the pipes should curve together when installed. There is a heat shield that connects the two. If you have that it would really help clarify how they are positioned.

Look at your collector box: you will see that the two downpipes are much closer together than the exhaust ports in the head. If you put the downpipes on backwards it will be very obvious. If they line up with the collector box they are right.

As you sit on the bike it goes to the right. At least that's what I wrote on mine when I took them off to paint them.

 

This is a bit off topic, but did the paint hold up?

 

So far yes. Not exacty done much mileage since though. BBQ paint it was.
