Well, after almost a month of fixing numerous problems, mending the issues with the wiring loom and cleaning out the carbs which were in a right mess, I managed to get my VF500 F2 running at the weekend which made all the time and effort worthwhile! The next issue on my list of things to fix, is the exhaust system. All the gaskets were missing so I've managed to order them from Honda and they should be here next week. My problem is that some of the exhaust clamps are discontinued. Therefore, I need to source aftermarket ones so that they all look the same. Does anyone have any idea which size clamps I will need as I don't know if the gaskets at the collector box ends will affect the size of the exhaust once installed? Now I'm happy the engine runs ok, the bike will be stripped down pretty quickly. I want the frame and the swing arm shot blasted and painted back in time for Christmas as I have a week off and hope to start building it back up over that week. Each part that is worn or broken is being replaced and anything that is still in good condition is being completely refurbished to make it good as new. The bodywork will be the last thing to be done. It's all original and in pretty bad shape so my father is going to be doing that for me. He is a TVR and Porsche trained bodywork specialist so his work is of a super high standard. My aim is to have the bike completely finished and perfect by the end of June 2014. Any help greatly appreciated as always.
