Hi guys, I'd like to ask for some advice on freeing up engines that are seized from being left standing, unfortunately the usual preparation before putting them into storage has not been done (I have recently aquired them off different people) One engine is still in the bike and the other is a spare engine I aquired.

After a bit of prep I have tried to turn the engine in bike on starter but it's not having any of it (starter seems to be working fine) I've tried bumping it in gear also with no sucess, the bike has been laid up since 2001 maybe.

The spare engine has been laid up 2 years and also doesn't turn on starter.

Any advice for either or both of them would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

There's a youtube film of some US survivalist type guy pumping diesel through a seized bike engine. It takes a while but it works. However even if you free it up the cylinder bores my be scored beyond repair. As the bikes have angled inlet tracts they let water into around the valves and into the cylinders. I would have a good look first before trying to resurrect.

    Found it
