I just recently installed a full vance and hines exhaust, new air filter and plugs and now after my bike warms up it starts pinging and popping frequently during deceleration and maintenance throttle but not while accelerating.

My plugs are gapped correctly and the timing is right i know for sure! I put plenty of octane booster in my tank and it seemed to help just a tiny bit but the problem still persists and it is very annoying!

The plugs I am using are for cold weather and it is not cold here in Arkansas. The only thing I can think of is getting plugs for warm weather!! Does anyone have any other ideas as to what could be causing this?

    Thanks in advance!

what kind of fuel are you runnign and check the screen filter inside the tank that might be limiting how much fuel is going through the line

do you still have you fuel pump??

change your plugs, and ditch the cold-weather ones.

Cold weather plugs are too hot for regular-season riding and can damage things if the bike runs lean for any reason ( like a full-system exhaust).

i'm running 93 octane gas with octane booster at the moment to help with the early detonation. my pump has been deleted for a few years now without problem.. its not a fuel flow problem for sure!

squirrelman - thanks for the info! would it make a difference if I got plugs for regular temps or plugs for hot temps? it gets pretty hot in here (100+ in the summer)

check your owner's or service manual for STANDARD plugs, and use those unless you ride in temps below about 30 degrees F.
