I bought a vf500 with the carb unit removed. I have cleaned and remounted the unit .The Honda manual does not give a routing of hoses. PROBLEM: I have one small hose tucked just underneath the air cleaner unit with a 90 degree bend retained by a flat black metal piece between the two upper carbs. Right now it is too short to attach to anything. I cannot find an illustration of what it is or where it is attached. I have the "Y" unit attached .Does anyone know what this little 90 degree hose attaches to??

I could help more if you had a picture, but there are two hoses that connect to nothing. They are vent tubes/runoff tubes. I could tell you in a sec if you post a pic.

Yep, need a picture to see exactly which one you are talking about, but it sounds like the vent hose that goes nowhere. Also, this is for your 86 right. The carbs have a number of differences in the hoses related to no fuel pump, etc. that the 84-85 have.

Also, it'd be helpful to tell if you have the CA version or the 49 state version. I have one of each now, and the CA version is decidedly more of a PITA in regards to hoses and placement. There are many more of them too.
