Can anyone make it clear on the installation of the cams and the settings. I have rebuilt the engine but a little confused between the clymer and Honda workshop manuals. I am not 100 % sure on the tdc t1 t2 and cylinder positions the lobes seem to be facing in on 1 cam. I don't want to mess it up so any help appreciated.

    OK no help ?
i have attached extracts from the Honda service manual - "it states from the T1 position you can install both camshaft for both cylinder banks"
so i assume this can be done without further rotation - but
when you complete the rear cylinder and turn you attention to the fronyt cyliner the pictures of the lobes are in different positions see page 9-24 all viewed from left but the but show different positions. Also lobes are shown on the intake at a 5 o'clock position - how is this possible as this would be foring the tappets open ? also on the rotation how do you know if you are on the firing or ccmpression stroke ? i assume the cam could be fitted 180 degrees in the wrong position. i am worried i will amke a real mistake without expert help - PLEASE AS 111.jpg 222.jpg 333.jpg SIT SO I CAN GET IT BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN

I'm in exactly the same boat. I have 3 manuals, the Clymer, the 1984 Honda service manual, and the Honda manual dated 1987. If I position the front exhaust cam the way the 87 manual explains, it depresses the #3 exhaust valves. WTF? Can someone give me a hand? I know this is an old thread, but I'm confused.
