Vf1000R RECTIFIER TEMP 190 to 200F!

    Greetings!

    Just bartered for a VF1000R......needs work but strong motor......going to restore this big bad girl this winter but want to ride for the rest of the season.....I am having engine shut off issues which I believe is fuel related...but more importantly I shot a thermal laser gun at the rectifier and it was 190 to 200 F!!.....this cant be normal......although output varies from 13.5 at idle to 15+ at 5000 plus...is this rectifier toast or is it being overdriven/overloaded by alternator/stator?

    Any help will be appreciated

    Mine gets hot enough if I put my pet-monkey on it, I would be out of fornicating commission for weeks, and the wife would have my head, (the big one)

    Kidding aside, they get hot as frick yah know. finger burn test or pet monkey either one = s Pain...

    You are over-charging. It will fry your battery and possibly make it boil acid everywhere.
