Are the bore (cylinder liners) removable and replaceable on the VF1000R's?
If so are they wet liners and is it an engineering job?
    Thanks.

Yes, you can remove them. I'm not sure about the replacement part though - those are special flanged parts and are not available anywhere that I know of. LA Sleeve might be able to help. Make sure you are armed with a thick wallet!

Thanks Jamie, I have a NOS set of 85/86 VF1000F (VF1000F2 Boldor not released in the US) crankcases and the liners are (obviously) new. I can get std rings and have the NOS std pistons already. The cases look to be identicle to the 1000R ones, may have to do a trial fit- if they are the same castings it will save a lot of rooting about.

    Update on this ancient thread.
Liners are easily removable. On the junk crankcases I have I gave it a go and they come out very easily.

Ja, but that wasn't hard. These are wrecked from the dropped rod so good to experiment on.
Mr Sledge Hammer almost paid a visit but was not needed in yet end.

The crank on this bike has lost 2 mm from the journal of the failed rod. The Ros itself has a big end ID 1mm bigger than it should be. Three mm of steel worn away between them. I cannot find any bits of bearing shell in the sump and there were no big end bearing shells on that rod. Strange but true.
