My 84 VF1000F doesn't wheelie. I am wondering if it should, or if the sheer weight and length of it keeps it from doing so.

The front end comes way up when you open the throttle in first or second, but it never actually lifts off. Anyone else have experience with this?

Well, I've seen pictures of 1000's doing wheelies so I know it can be done. That said, I've never been able to do it in my 20-odd years of riding them. I've owned several, both R's and F's, and none have done it. Little 6" high power wheelies is about it. I have found that traction is what limits it the most. With the stock suspension the rear sacks out pretty badly, that doesn't help matters at all.

It sounds to me like your bike is running just fine!

Man i bet you can wheelie that son of a bitch if you get going about 30, stand on the passanger pegs, rev it to 9k in first and pop the clutch. Good luck and get someone to record this epic VF1000F wheelie!!

Seriously though this bike weighs over 600lbs

This. You are going to break something, hopefully not your neck.

I was mostly looking for a comparison to see if mine was making the power it should. I have no doubt it could clutch wheelie; just looking to find out if it should power wheelie or if mine is a dog.

Its fine! My 1000 will completely unload the front suspension under heavy accel in first and second and if I really wanted to wheelie it I probably could with a little coersing. I've got a video of my 1000 and about 2.5 min into it i do a 60-110mph run. That might be an ok reference... I was going downhill though.

Everyone give crusty props for the awesome weight references. I put mine on a scale at the local farm supply and she must be a little fat.
