vf1000 tripple on vf700 bolt on?

hey guys. searched around fro a while and still cant seem to find an answer. does the first gen vf1000 tripples bolt on to the vf700? i have a vf700f and am trying to find an easy way to do a front end swap. if the tripples bolt on then i should be able to use a set of 41mm forks (have a set lying aroud) right? anyone else do a front end swap? ive seen some f2 fork swaps but only on the 500's. any help or suggestions are appreciated.

I've got VF1000f triples and forks on my 85 VF750f right now....

 

Yes, it will work. I have a set of VF1000R forks and triples on my 83 VF750F.

 

Yes it will work, but you can't run the F2 forks because they are way too short. If you want to run some VF1000 forks that would be no problem.

 

sweet. thank for the help. gonna try and run a yzf 600 front end off my crashed bike. forks are about 1 inch shorter so well see how that goes. just wanted to try somthin new. ill let you guys know how it goes.

 

Thanks for the info guys and have been toying with doing a front end swap on my gen 1. How much difference can we get away with in fork height?

ima pick up on this tommorow. need to find a way to make my 39mm clipons fit the 41mm forks. hmmmm . .. any ideas?

 

You sure those forks are straight? You can easily gain that inch back by dropping the tubes back down through the trees an inch. Then drill the upper triple for mounts for a Superbike bar! (or any 7/8" dirt bike bar that suits you)

If you really want clip ons, there are 3 options that come to mind first. Most racy/least comfy - CBR600F3 racing clip ons. Slightly more comfy - CBR600F3 stock clip ons. Much more comfy - (98-01) VFR clip ons.

 

Oh and, what are you planning to use for a speedo drive? Does the donor bike have a mechanical speedo drive?

 

ya the forks are fine. the rear of the bike took all the damage. but ya there's plenty of room so i don't need to lower the forks. ima end up using the original clip on's cause they're so dam comfy, just gotta grind em out a little. and ya the speedo drive is mechanical. everything is going together super smooth suprizingly. just gotta wait till the legs healed and then ride the crap outa that thing!!!:thumbsup:

So, you're using a VF1000F/R lower triple, with the YZF upper?

 

using both upper and lower from the yamaha just switched the bearings and ditched some of the spacers. no play in it and turns smooth. just need to do something about the steering stops
