sorry for the new thread, but ...
well i did the oil change, as the shock was as good as useless, i replaced the 440mls i got out of it with the recomended 350mls,

well its made no difference, perhaps even worse than before,
its like it has no preload at all, it will sit at 40psi and not lose any pressurei , but when you push down on the seat the bike will drop, but won't bounce back at all,,
the shock doesnt leak, and for all intensive purposes looks to be in good condition,

basically though, at this stage its useless, and may as well be a hard tail bike,

    any insight??
is it time i upgraded to a hagon or yss shock??

Not sure on the existing shock but Works performance also offers a replacement shock for the 1Kf. Street Bike Shocks ($800 US). Another option is to use a VFR800 shock, member Jaime Daughtery here on VFRWorld makes an adapter for it.

Good luck and great looking bike, really like that color scheme.

The valves probably have debris in them and no longer do their job (stuck opened for compression and closed for rebound).
I have a vfr800/A '04 rear shock modified by Jamie on my vf1000f since 2007.
I had the shock for 21$ on eBay and Jamie's prices beat any aftermarket shock.
I located the remote pre-load adjuster in the V if the engine.

Yep, your results are very typical for the stock shocks. It not a fluid replacement or rebuild issue, it's more involved than that. The bottom line is that when the stock shocks fail they are done and cannot be repaired.

Check out my site and you'll see the details on what I've come up with to solve this issue. Shoot me an e-mail if you need more info on it.
