Hi all, just a quick update on my burgeoning 1st gen collection...

The VF400 ('83) is at the menders after it started running a bit lumpy (sorry to be so technical). So far they've removed the carbs and timing covers as part of the diagnosis. Lots of crud in the carbs apparently. No surprises there. Worn timing chains and/or tensioners are also expected based on the rattles.

I finally managed to get the front upper fairing off the VF500 ('85). It also started with a bit of coaxing and runs OK so long as the throttle is left alone. Still a work in progress, but it is progressing.

The latest ebay purchase is VFR750 ('88). It has an MoT which means it's road legal but we think the starter clutch has packed in. A repair kit is in hand so that's the next job while the VF400 is being fixed by the professionals.

    Here's the 750:

I think that's enough in the fold for now :)

    LOL!

I called in to see the VF400 yesterday afternoon. The engine is out and being fettled. Timing chains on order.

All in all it looks in pretty good condition, as hoped.

The bike looks very weedy with no engine in there, but that's no surprise given the company it's in:

Looks nice. V4 collections are a good thing. What's the next one you have on your wish list?

    That's enough for now!

We managed to get the 750 running a few minutes ago. New starter clutch springs etc and all is well again :)
