Left and Right? Stock handlebars? Have they had the locating pins that engage the top triple clamp removed and are adjusted too far?

Left and right. Everything is stock. Handlebars have been worked when forks were rebuilt. I was thinking they might be wrong but not sure how to check.

Not too many 37mm handlebars out there to swap in... maybe 86/87 VFR units? Have you simply tried adjusting them so they won't hit the tank or the fairing?

Those are Lockhart Phillips (maybe Targa) aftermarket clipons... I have a set. They are adjustable by how you rotate them in the clamp that the fork goes thru. The end of the bar that goes into the clamp has a slight angle to it that allows the angle of the handle bar to change. You just have some adjusting to do.

Will have a play with them in the morning unfortunately the damage has been done and one of the mounting on the nose fairing has been damaged.

I have now had a bit of an adjust and although it is much better it still catches a little which I think will cause it to fail its MOT. I think I may have put a 86 model nose cone on my 84 could this be the issue. Also ive seen a pic of a VF 500 with mirrors mounted on the nose fairing was this an option or an aftermarket MOD?

    Cheers in advance

    Al

Your upper fairing bracket could be bent making matters worse. 84-86 upper fairings on the F models (not F2) are the same part with different paint. Mirrors mounted to the fairing on an F model is a mod., not stock.

Thanks for the reply. Which bracket do you think as I doubt its the front part as it would fit flush round the headlight if that point was bent which only leave the side brackets. Thinking of attaching mirrors to the nose at this point unless I have a brainwave quite soon.
