Ok, so some of you have probably read about me tryin to track a short in the little VF down. Here's my prob now. While I had the tank off and was cutting out the relay that I didn't need I must have cut something else or something grounded out or some such. Anyway, here's the situation, I turn on the key, the pump sends the gas in, push start, it turns over easily, but doesn't try to start at all. I'm thinking no spark. So my question is, what is the most common thing that I probably did wrong that would give me these symptoms? I'm sure it has to be something easy cause I haven't really done anything to the bike.

First what was the relay you removed?

Second - see if it has spark?

Lack of spark can be caused: by lack of signal from the pulsar pickups located under the clutch cover on the right side of the bike. From the pickups, it goes to the black square spark boxes, which then tell the coils when to fire. Then thru the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.

Thanks Mason. On my next break from work, I'll start looking there. The relay was added on for an alarm system the prior owner had. It didn't work anymore so I was trying to get rid of extra wires and figure out why the headlight wasn't working even though it had power to it and the bulb was good. Anyway, when I got back from vacation, I tried to put the bike back together just to get it running really quick and then found out it didn't start easily anymore...

Sounds very like the feed wire for the cdi has been cut, this is a common connector wire used when fitting alarms, use a meter and check for 12v supply at the cdi unit, i had a similar problem with a 400 which is basically the same electrical system
