I have cleaned the carbs twice and still cannot get this bike to run without the choke on, and yes I know I will have to pull them and try again. I do have another question thou, when I start it and hold the throttle at a steady RPM the two carb slides on the front cylinders flutter and the two cylinders in the back are steady. What is normal and what causes the slides to flutter or stay still? The bike will run at mid and high range without the choke and it does rev nice right up to red line but will not start without the choke or idle.

One possibility is pinholes, splits or cracks causing leaks in the rubber diaphragms. Also Clogged air circuits or vacuum ports in the pressure or vacuum chambers. Stuck open choke valves. Carbs out of synch at the throttle plates.

When you cleaned the carbs did you remove the mixture screws and clean the mixture port and transition ports?

What size are the pilot jets and main jets on that thing? Did you verify the pilot jets were open using a #12 or 13 electric guitar string?

Did you clean and verfity the cross-drilled holes in the pilot emulsion tubes--its a bit larger orifice and i don't remember which size string, but verification (go/no-go) on every orifice is not necessary on your girlfriend but it is on your carbs...

Looks like I have a lot of work to do. I did use a ultra sonic cleaner and I did spray cleaner through all passages and had cleaner shooting out the otherside but somewhere I must have missed somthing. Well back to the drawingboard. Thanks

Usually first-timers can get them cleaned properly after about 4 or 5 tries--but not always...
