VF 500 can drive, gear or chain??

    Does anyone know if the VF 500 were gear or chain drive cams? Thanks, Corey

    Hello Corey. If I am not mistaken, all the VF model bikes had chain driven cams. I think gear driven cams started in 1986 and went to 2001. Somone will probably correct me if I am wrong. The gear driven cam has a distinct sound to it, kind of like a supercharger on a V-8 engine. It whines, but it's an awsome sounding whine.

    That's what I thought but wasn't sure. The sound is half the fun.
