As some of you know, I was involved in a wreck last month that pretty much totaled the front and right side of my bike. I finally got the correct insurance info from the car owner (after 5 weeks!) and have now filed a claim with his insurance company.

What I want to know is how much should I expect or hold out for? Is $1500 too much?

    Thanks

Kelly Blue Book says $1190 retail. I'd push for as much as you can get. Do some research using Craigslist and completed listings on eBay. Look for comparable bikes that show a higher value and use those as your argument for fair market price. Good luck.

Sorry about your bike. Also make sure to file a claim on any gear that may have suffered any damage even if it's the smallest scratch or scuff mark that you may find on your helmet, jacket, etc. Is the damage all cosmetic or did you suffer damage to the engine?

If it were me, I'd ask for a little more (depending on miles) and then ask how much they were willing to sell the wreck back to me for. Call back, and then offer them 1/4th of that. I've heard that some companies will take as low as $75 for a wreck. Then I'd rebuild it, the damage doesn't really look that bad to me.

Sorry about the arm and the knees.
