Of great interest to all Gen 6 riders is a thread on another forum, http://www.bikersoracle.com/vfr/forum/showthread.php?t=80779&page=1&pp=15 an engine swap of a gear drive 800cc engine into a Gen 6 frame. The author is a well known wrench on the Isle of Man. Its very long thread but is still on going... Merry Christmas!
Cool thread and project. The comparison dyno chart between the VTEC motor and the outgoing gear drive motor is interesting--clearly illustrating Honda knew what they were doing when they employed VTEC, providing a power boost across the rev range. I'm not sure I would ever embark on such a project, mainly because of all the custom work that's necessary. And the bike is still relatively new, IMO. However if you love the way the 6th gen rides/handles/stops but you just have to have that gear whine and no VTEC (and you don't care about the extra ~10 hp), then why not?
Been tracking that one for a while, not something I'd do but if Mark a RVF750 owner and great spanner twiddler wants to match VFR's best frame and suspension with the VFR's best engine think thats very very cool.
