So I work in town 3 days a week and my Gen 6 is my usual conveyance between my place in the country and my apartment. I park it alongside a government building where it does not in any way obstruct pedestrian traffic. Its a good spot usually because it has CCTV coverage, is a bit sheltered and I can actually see it from my apartment. Early the other morning when it was still dark I got up for the normal reason glanced out the window as I do completely from habit to see my poor bike lying on its side. The inocent victim of some ( steady now use your inside non expletive voice ) bastard has kicked my bike over. So I go down check out the damage and spend the rest of the day doing police/insurance/ assessor/ dealership things. If im lucky I will get the bike back in 2 weeks and the dealership guy tels me the quote was $2700, of which I pay $400.00. The damage occured as the bike was kicked/pushed over against a big red brick column. Aaaaanyway Im just posting to vent my frustration at the mindless goons that exist in society. I mean you try to be philosophical about it but ultimately I guess theres not much you can do except be grateful you can afford insurance. Im assuming the insurance company actually pays up. Ok well cheers all, hope your weeks better than mine.

Thanks guys, yeah Im ok about it, I mean theres a lot bigger problems in the world but you know what its like when it comes down to something like a bike that you take some measure of pride he whole thing is in the hands of the insurance company, who to be fair certainly seemed to be pretty helpful and service oriented. As for the CCTV footage, its of a government building so I will never see it and ultimately it will be up to the insurance company as to whether they will pursue it. Lets face it a couple of grand to them is bugger all so I doubt they will even request it. Anyway thanks for your responses, on the up side will shes in for repair im having SS brake line fitted as well so I will be even more keen to get her back.
    Cheers

    Karma

funny how people who damage/steal other peoples shit, usually scream the loudest when the same thing happens to them.

I guess all you can do is hope for some karma to come back around and kick 'em in the gut.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear about this. I hope the CCTV caught something and if not...hopefully you'll get your shot at justice one day.

What you need to do is get a van and some of your mates. Then you park a bike somewhere where someone might mess with it; and wait in ambush. As soon as the scum tries something you and your mates storm him with pipes and bash his legs and arms in so he is on crutches for 6 months. A good kick in the teeth would be ok too. Justice nuff sed...

The Donald has a very very good point. If you choose to go the route with the van and pipes you must duct tape your licence plate and wear masks. You have to remember the chances of being caught on camera now doing evil things is highly likely, so one must dress accordingly. I do like the idea of attempting to get the video before you get medieval on their asses. Good luck and keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.

Sorry to hear that your a victim of some idiots stupidity. When you get your bike back, set your own video up from your apartment (no doubt the the idiot will come back) , then when your in the van you know who to look for. Or get one of those motion alarms.
In the quiet of the night it would probably scare the crap out of him.

Every time I read or hear about any sort of bad human behavior such as this, I can only think; "Public beatings so that the rest may learn..."

Sorry to hear that you're out $400. There is no sense or reason for that kind of behavior. I'm guessing that you'll be finding a new place to park it. It would be a shame to not ride it because of this incident.

You should get your own CCTV in your window. I live in a place with no windows, so I use one on a two week loop. works well. I got my neighbor on tape(disc) messing with my last bike. Next day I called the landlord, showed him the video, and he got kicked out!
