V.f.r 1993 fn. Another charging problem !!

Another Charging Problem! Confirmation Reqd. When connecting one lead of multimeter to the R/W charging wire at the Starter/ Sol terminal, and the other to the Bat Pos Post, voltage shows between 13.9- 14.5 at tickover, when Battery fully charged externally (12.88). Does not increase when revved, may even drop. Does this then indicate charge is definitely going into battery ? , as will fail to turn motor over after a 40 mile run and say 3 starts. Stator, Reg/Rec and Solenoid have all been replaced and re-wired. Could it be a second dud Batt, also recently replaced. Am I testing correctly with the meter ? Some of your Posts show wiring R/Wdirect to Pos on Batt, if I try that blows fuse immediately. It's almost like the Polarity of the bike has changed over. Nobody can fathom it out.!!
