Upper triple tree for 85" VF700F

Winter project time.

I have an 85' vf700f with factory clip on handlebars. I'm considering converting it to a traditional one piece handlebar. Does anyone know if the upper triple tree from a vf700c (magna) would be a direct replacement in regards to fork angle and size. I believe both bikes use 39mm diameter forks, but I can't find any further information if they possibly fit. I'm not worried about the mounting of anything else (headlight, gauges) because I'm planning on re-doing that anyway.
