Welll...it was bound to happen along my learning curve I suppose, but I dumped by bike..only going about 25 km/h, but still..souring. No real damage, I hit the kill switch on the way down , just skratches on the mirror and body work, and left handle got turned in. Which is where I come to my issue, I go to loosen off the bolt to turn the handle back, and I notice that the upper triple clamp is turned slightly left when the tire and lower clamp are straight, Do I just loosen off the triple clamps and the big nut on the top clamp and turn it back?? Or is there some trick? Thanks Everyone! I'm pretty embarrassed already, so try to spare me from the humility Andrew
Don't be embarrassed to ever ask questions. Hats off to you for wanting to fix the problem yourself. You will want to make sure that your forks did not get bent, so check them carefully. You are on the right track for aligning the triple clamps. Loosen all the clamps on the fork and the nut on the upper triple then visually align everything and tighten the upper triple back up. You might also try aligning the forks while all of the clamp bolts on the forks are loosened by pushing the bike straight on into a wall. Check everything out and then tighten the bolts back up. Let us know how it goes.
+1, very common to tweek the front end during a spill. Best to slide the tubes out and check for damage to the legs and all related items and reassemble. I would bet you gonna be OK on this one.
