Has anyone had their Fi sound like its only firing on 3 cylinders? This is an intermittent fault and it's immediately obvious because the engine sounds ruff at low speed, I wouldn't say that there's any noticeable lack of power oddly enough! The last time this happened I changed all the plugs and it was cured, but this was only a couple of thousand miles ago! Perhaps I need to change the HT leads too? I'm hoping this is a common fault because it would make it easier to troubleshoot...

Thinking cleaning the injectors and have them tested may be in order. First gen 6 I ever worked on had a problem like this and a couple of injectors were leaking slightly and it would run fine unless cruising for long periods and then would start to sound funny. Would start right up and ran fine for the most part.

    Probably no HT lead fault.

Original Honda HT leads are of the highest quality and almost NEVER need replacement, even on most 25yo+ VFs still on the road. Unless some fetid, feckless rodents have been nibbling gently, relentlessly on your wires, as mice, chipmunks, and squirrels are wont to do. They know it's not food, so the bite marks mean they were doing it just for fun, rodent fun. I've seen 2 examples of HT leads with areas of insulation stripped away in 3" sections down to the wire, with other incisor marks evident.

Honda eliminated all fueling problems when they switched from carbs to FI, didn't they ?
