    Hi gents

Went riding the other night down some nice twisties with some old high school friends. On my way back i noticed that my bike smelled like it was burning. At first I thought my new shoes i was wearing were too close to the hot exhaust.. but I was wrong at the next stop sign (about 500 feet ahead) i pulled over to find out that my license plate +license plate metal frame had broken off and fallen between the swingarm and my tire. The electrical line that feeds power to the license plate light caught fire and little shards of it were burning on my tire.

I was able to put it out with dirt from the side of the road.. (good thing I was out in the boonies not on city streets)

    here are some pictures

Im not sure of the name of the part that broke but its a piece of metal and it looks like a weak weld?

on the other side the bolt broke off...

I called Honda motorcycles of north america to make a complaint. They told me my bike was out of warranty but they would like a dealer to look at it. I move to washington state on Tuesday, so once I get there ill have it looked at.

honda of NA advised me to take it to the local chp office to tell them that it is going to be investigated by honda and it is difficult for me to put a license plate on it. Went there officer was a D*CK told me that i had to have it on. I said ok ill buy some wire and rode it across the street to the Hardware store. when I pulled in the parking lot with my dad on his harley CHP pulls in behind me tells my dad to get out of there that he only wants to speak to me and gives me a fix it ticket. then threatens to take my bike away for the exhaust.

I will always hate the chp... I hope you do too.

    - if there are any members of this forum who are chp please accept my apologies im just rather pissed.

I did buy some jb weld and new bolts so if this is going to be an expensive fix ill just do it myself.

any help would be extremely helpful. As always thank you ahead of time for any input

    keep the rubber side down

Rarther odd but anything can break, I think it would be worth the effort to remove the body work and inner fender and have it welded back in place .
