I'm a longtime 88 Hawk GT/Bros owner in Chiang Mai Thailand. I live surrounded by mountains and great riding and commute year round. I've always wanted a VFR as a better two up touring bike but there are very few here. About 4 years ago I pulled up next to a 98 in a parking lot and I could tell from a sticker on it that it was owned by a foreigner. All foreigners eventually leave so I knew I had to track down the owner and wait... I did that that and got to know the guy (a former navy seal and general badass) and kept tabs on the bike. A couple weeks ago he announced he is retiring and heading back to the states. So the bike is now mine! Patience has paid off. He owned the bike for 14 years so I know it's long history which is really rare here. So here it is - repainted in a pretty boring Grey/White scheme. I've got a seat latch on order so the bungee can go away. Other than that it's in pretty good shape except for the windscreen. 16k miles Here is a picture of it and a pic of my Bros because no bike will be as beautiful as that...
I like that gray and white a lot, the black pin strip sets it off nicely. Looks dope and nicely original, imho. Just back in the states from two-up Chiang Mai via Mae Salong, Chiang Rai and a dozen little roads all around your home turf...some of the best riding anywhere on earth, for sure.
Two beautiful machines, I missed the boat when the Hawks came out, I still kick myself for not grabbing when way back then. Who knows, I might find space for a 4th bike in my garage and it'll most likely be a Hawk. One can still dream!
