I was told by my local Honda shop that the Two Brothers stash causes to much back pressure. Hurting the motor in the long run so stay away from them. Anyone else ever hear this? And if so anyway to cure it?

Warning – I HATE IT when people at dealers say things like that. I really spools me up when you drop off you bike to have some work done and you’re sure you know more than the guy you are handing your key to. Some people don’t like Two Brothers exhaust, but they are a large company and the stash system has been around for years. If their product caused damage to motors somebody would have sued them by now. Also, if you look at the Two Brothers pipe you can see straight through it. That’s supposed to be more restrictive than the stock pipes? If you want to talk about restrictions, the CAT causes more restriction that any of the slip on systems. You can also look at some of the Dyno charts and the Two Brothers system’s make more Hp than some of the other systems that have both pipes active.

I would say it is purely hog wash by your dealer. I am not sure why they would try and spread such nonsense. A two brother's will not harm your engine. IMO, I still would run a "fully functional" dual exhaust if it were me.....or you could stash your catch (as in fish) in there for the ride home!

Why would you want a two brothers when you can have this beauty?

Here is a guy who went another route and made the two brother's fully functional by welding it. Scroll down to the post by "aotto."

don't know about the STASH system, but my VALE system has a dummy pipe on the left side. and by dummy pipe, i mean it isn't even physically connected to the rest of the system!!! exhaust never even touches it. if yours is similar, i can't imagine how it would harm anything.

....and just to pull this slightly OT and fuel a fire, i don't see why people feel that the VFR NEEDS dual exhaust, or how the 2 Bros systems are somehow a failure for NOT being dual. the original system isn't even a dual, leastwise not a true dual. i'm not even sure how you would define a 'true dual' on a V4 sportbike, but when the stock system goes down to one pipe and then splits back into 2 to run into 2 canisters, that ain't it. now, if you were running a header off the bike that eliminated the cat and DIDN'T consolidate down to 1 pipe, yeah, i could see how a dual exhaust may be more appropriate. i'd still want to see dyno proof that the 4-1 system was inhibiting power, though.
