    (ORIGINAL QUOTE)-Bubba Zanetti
However, most of the morons I see on the road who think they are fast are young kids with their ball caps on sideways, in their four cylender cars that have a muffler system that sounds like angry bumble bees are stuck inside who have watched The Fast and The Furious one too many times and for some idiotic reason think they can take a bike????? (Enjoy my run-on sentence)

Anybody else have these people pull up beside them and they want to drag race you?

0 to 40 as fast as you can. Then hang back, let them fly by you right into a speed trap. Laugh my ass off every time. When I'm in uniform, I'll even pull up to the cop and say, "I'm glad you got em, he just about ran me off the road back there." Cop will be like, "Oh yeah, thanks I'll take care of him." Then, once again I'll ride off LMAO. I kid you not, I have pulled this off at least a half dozen times in the past couple years. First time was by accident. Some guy wanted to race. I started to race. I saw cop. He didn't. It was the start of something great!

Now where I come from you can get a ticket for doing just that....it's called exhibition of speed, and in some states they'll pull your bike, and license for it. Hell look at how Florida is cracking down on their bike "problems"....but yeah 99% of these occurrences are kids 16-20ish screwing around, just asking to get hurt...sorry for the slight rant, I too have my whole family as LEO (Law Enforcement Officers), and I too am in the academy right now. Anyways just my good ole' .02

    Whatever

Hasn't been a problem in last 15 years that I've been riding on the street. Now, if you burn out, do a wheelie, etc... then thats a different story. You can have your .02 back

most of the kids I know , know full well they cant take a bike or much else with their ricers, but they DO know they can play the game with a lot of people and make em think they want to race.....So react, get sucked in, and they get a good laugh....I enjoy it myself sometimes..:)

    Where do you come from?

In the world of Noz, there would be no ticket issued since 40 miles per hour (mph) is a speed that is legal on many major roads. If the problem in your area is how fast a driver gets to a specific speed from a standing start, say 0-40mph, world of Noz would call this "exhibition of acceleration" not "exhibition of speed". No ticket would be given or needed so long as the maximum speed attained remains less than or equal to the posted speed limit.

Advanced lesson: (warning: this may require thinking)
if the problem is how fast you get to a specific speed from a moving start, say 40-0, world of Noz calls this "exhibition of acceleration" as well. The acceleration is in the opposite direction. I hear some of you complaining, but be releived that you would also get full credit for "exhibition of decceleration". If you called this "braking" you may get a ticket from some future LEO's in certain jurisdictions.

    Any questions?

Not true getting a ticket. for this I know. once I was getting on the freeway here where you come off a stop light first before getting on the on ramp, pretty straight forward transition getting on the freeway, anyway in this not so pay attention to what was behind moment, I took off like a bat out of hell getting to 65 pronto, put on the turn signal, looked over my shoulder checking traffic and whats ya know a copper was right behind me, I merged then held my breath as I was sure he'd turn on me... Nope never did. Since then I've asked other officers about this very thing, their answer, as long as one doesn't do it recklessly there's not a problem. I've sorta tested the waters a few more times and so far it holds true, still a funny thing.

I can take a bike (most bikes, for that matter)

I have more issues with kids on GSX-R's ninja's, ect... (600's and 750's)
allways want to show up a "muscle car"

    my normal response is to:
    A. inform them when the next "street legal" drag event is at the local track (I'm normally there)
    B. hold up as much cash as I have with me (normally between $100-500) against the window
(I've never had a biker (or driver) continue to f*ck with me)

or on rare occasion, C. grace them with the tail lights of a 4300lb car

    btw,
I don't screw around on my bike

friends tell me I ride like an old man
    I tell them,
I got my car for going fast, I got my bike to enjoy being outside

    this means:
    both wheels on the ground
    continuious rear wheel traction
    and no excessive noise
as well as the apperance of maintaining controll of the bike
