Ok heres my attempt at writeing about this trip that I took. The trip started on 30 May from Baton Rouge, La. My friend John and I were going to meet two other friends from FLA in Delonaga, Ga. View attachment 7951 Thats an Aprilla Tuano. (No, he really is a good guy, dont judge him by the bike:wink. Well we left at 8 am and about 10 min into the ride and about 5 miles away from Johns house disaster. John gets pulled over by Lousianas semi-finest. At least thats what he thought and had pulled over. It seems the cop meant to pull over the car that was beside him but John also pulled over then got a free pass to continue. So the trip continues. I wont bore you with the interstate travel but we took I-59 N to Ft. Payne GA. Can I tell you I was very impressed at the legs on the VFR. I could do about 180-190 miles per tank as opposed to the 90-100 from the Tuano. Well we stopped at an Applebees off the Interstate and sat a the bar where we greeted by a bartender who offered shots out of her belly button (sorry no pics there). We then afterwords went to Desoto State park and camped out. View attachment 7959 . So the next morning we left early and took W.GA 136 past Carters Lake and stopped for a pic at a rest stop. So we met up with Jim and Roy (guys from FLA) in Dahlonega at European Motorsports on Riders hill where I saw...(cue shit eating grin) An 1984 VF 1000 going for 2600$. Jim BTW rides a 98 Red VFR and Roy a Buel Ulysses. So from there we went to Jennys Creek Campground and set up camp. There was still daylight left so we decided to go for a quick ride on GA 129n/Gainsville Hwy on the way to Two Wheels Only. Unfortunately for a RWB VFR (not in our goup) was pulled over and being ticketed. Just the look of dissapointment on the mans face told the whole story. So we took rt 180/Wolf Pen Gap rd to TWO and then stopped for good ol fashion southern tea. . So back to Jennys Creek where drinking beer and BBQing insued. The next day the plan was to go to Deals Gap and do the Cherohala Pkwy. We hooked up with the owner of Jennys Creek, Frank, on a Harley, and Ron on a BMW 1200. From here I have no clue on where we went from there since Ron had GPS and knew the roads really well. I do, in fact know where we ended up. Can you guess who broke down on the ride. No it wasnt the Buel. We ate there uke: which took way too long to get the food and a whole lot longer to replace a battery. So we left Frank and Ron at the Harley dealership and headed to the Dragon:biggrin: and stopped for pics before we entered. Saw some Vandalism (anyone recognize the handwriteing) Then stopped to take a pic during because of rubber necking Harleys . Then we of course stopped into the store at Deals Gap. Then we headed back to Jennys Creek for more beer and BBQ. Since we didn't go to the Cherahola pkwy the previous day this was our only goal for the day. All I can say is man what a great ride. . After rideing the road we stopped at a local diner called Nut-n-Fancy and I strongly suggest the hamburger that takes 15 minutes to cook. Its fantastic. When we were done I met Les who owns a 98 VFR. . The next day we all went our seperate ways. I left Jennys Creek at 8 am central time and got back to Lafayette, La at 8pm. Total miles traveled 2168. Total days to take the smile off my face from this travel....well lets say it'll be a long time till that happens.
Sounds like you had a great trip. I love it down there. I've been going to Deal's Gap every year for four years and it always includes a trip to Suches. Beautiful area to ride. If you're there again, make your way to Helen, GA. Nice little German town recommended by a VFRWorld member. Well worth the trip. And you didn't do the Cherohala???? Man what is wrong with you! Haha!
Sounds like you had a fun trip with friends. I did the same area and TWO, two years ago. Your photo's and descriptions make it seem like last week. thanks.
