I purchased a set of 5th Gen plastics from Nice Cycle and they do not have those threaded brass inserts in them.

Any suggestions or is it ok to just go ahead and not worry about it?

You might get lucky at a home improvement store, but I'd try a nuts & bolts place. They tend to have everything thing that deals with threads.
