Hi all, i am trying to figure out a safe easy way to transport 2 bikes on my friends trailer. It is a standard flat 6 x 4 trailer without any bike rails. And i don`t want to drill holes or weld anything onto it.
    Any proven ideas?
The two bikes are a xl185 and a honda z50.
I know i can get some pretty good rachet tie downs, but without the rails for the tyres to sit in won`t the bikes just slip over side ways??
And this will only be a once off trip so I don`t want to spend mega $$$$$$

if its a wood floor try nailing 2X4 on either side of the tire(front) after you tie them down......

Assuming the trailer has got some sort of lashing/attachment points for straps to hold the bikes firmly upright, whilst they are being transported, the task is really to stop the bike tyres/wheels from moving during the trip. So nip down to a hardware store. Buy a large sheet of thick plywood. Cut the sheet down, so its just large enough to fit snugly onto the floor of the trailer. Voila you can now screw baulks of timber onto the new plywood floor to hold the tyres exactly where you want them without damaging the trailer.

    Hope that helps

I've transported numerous MX bikes on trailers without wheel chocks.

As long as the lower, outside edge of the trailer has points where you can attach a ratchet hook, you're good.
Key is to ratchet the rears of the bikes first, one on each side of the bike, as high as you can get them. once those are in place:
Have you, or a friend, sit on the bike and compress the front forks. While they are compressed, hook ratchets again on both sides of the MX handlebars.
You will need 4 straps for each bike and you will be good
    Good luck
