So I've been riding the bike a bit, and trying to get it tweaked to my liking. The current issues:

    1) The Givi Windscreen that the PO installed is no good for me. It creates a lot of wind noise around my helmet at highway speeds. If I sit up straight and stand up just off the seat, the wind noise is gone. If I tuck in, the noise is gone also. Normal riding position is very loud and uncomfortable. I took the screen off yesterday, and rode the bike to validated the problem. Very little helmet wind noise with no screen installed. Now I have to figure out which windscreen to change to. BTW, I'm 5'10".

    2) Still looking for the OEM pillion pad (passenger back rest) for the top case. Online is coming up empty, although I did find some mentions of it on a few UK sites. No part # though. The guys at the local Honda dealer were of no help, although they did look. Next step is to contact Givi directly and see what they know (supposedly they made the case for Honda, and they have plenty of pads on their site).

    Hi There

The pad for the top case is item 3 in the following

I am sure they deliver to the U.S.

On the screen front there are a lot of threads on this forum, I'd suggest doing a search.

On a personal note, I have a 6th Gen and I use a MRA Vario Touring Screen and I love it. Here's a link to a review of it from one of the guys on this forum

I'm 6'1". The zero gravity double bubble created helmet buffeting. I removed it in favor of a Chinese knock-off of factory screen and it was almost as good as no windscreen. Airflow more even across shoulders/chest. May be a cheap option to try.

Thanks Carpy!! Part # in hand! Woot Woot.

And I hear ya about all the screen threads. Read a bunch of them myself. Probably gonna just go with a shorter screen, as that should be just fine.

You might also want to check-out the current UK accessories catalogue for the VFR800 vtec (they are still being sold in Europe) which is available for download here..

    http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/_assets/downloads/brochures/accessory/VFR800.pdf

As you can see from the brochure, you should check to see if you have one of the newer style Honda top boxes - because that backrest pad (linked to by Carpy above) is an integral part of the top box.

However for the newer boxes, Honda sell an extra "lower back pad" which is intended to stop the edge of the lid from digging into the pillion. They can be purchased separately and ordered direct from UK Honda motorcycle dealerships - so try people like Lings or Doble or David Silver Spares. For instance

    http://www.dobledirect.co.uk/category/p/297/Honda+VFR800+Accessories

has them listed as Genuine Honda Accessory 08P60-KRJ-800A-3 for £22.46. They also carry a number of other accessories which can be fitted to standard 45 litre top-boxes like arm-rests and inner liner bags so if you are paying international shipping on the pad you might want to see if there are other items you wish to consolidate into one shipping cost.

    Hope that helps

Scuba and I swapped windscreens before his trip to Baja. Having tested it for almost two weeks in different kinds of weather including heavy winds and rain, I prefer the MRA over the double bubble. I'd write a report but there are too many already.
