Topcase mounting - not in love with Wingrack, looking for options

I recently mounted a Givi Wingrack on my '00 VFR800. I had a Givi top case-only rack, which was pretty cool but one of the welds busted, and I picked up the Wingrack from another BARFer here in the Bay Area for a good price.

I was pretty stoked about the ability to run side cases as well, but not super happy with the weight of the Wingrack and how wide the whole thing will be. No worries - I'll mostly just run the top case in my daily lane splitting.

Anyway, went for a Saturday afternoon ride with my fiancé on the back, first time with the Wingrack. On the old rig, the rack tubes conveniently replaced the stock grab handles. The Wingrack has no such allowance, and she now has no place to easily grab on when we're just cruising. (she hangs on to me in the faster stuff, of course)

I've been thinking of trying out the newer Givi topcase rack - TwistedThrottle.com : Givi Topcase Rack (Honda VFR800, '98-'01) - Givi FZ257 - maybe add the sidecase racks later. Anyone running this rack? How are those little grabrail-looking bits placed for the passenger? Any other options I should look at?

I know of the Ventura racks, and they're very cool, but I'm only interested in hard luggage - I live in San Francisco and need to be able to lock stuff up. Topcase and something easier for my fiancé to hang on to are my primary concern, but if I'm gonna invest in something new, it should allow for sidecases as well.

    Thanks!

so you're talking about running with the old lady and a rack but no bag on? Because with the bag on she shouldn't need to hold on to anything.

my wife doesn't care for the bag installed because it doesn't provide a comfortable backrest for her.

Sorry, that might not have been clear. I always ride with the topcase on. She likes it as a backrest. But when we're riding in the twisties, especially on the steep downhills, she slides around on the seat some, and wishes she had something better to hold on to. Or like last night in SF, when some dumbass turned left in front of us and I had to stop REAL fast.

Thanks for the pic, RJW. I'll definitely look into that.

I did end up installing the newer Givi rack with the handles, which are awesome, but some anti-slidey is probably still good.
