It is not obvious why, however when I checked both parts on the online parts finder on the Lings honda website this item 08L42-MCW-100 is marked as now obsolete, whilst 08L42-MCW-801 is still listed as available.

Its not clear what got changed, as the item shown on the fiche for the later part, looks the same as the original item fitted on my 6thGen.

If one is cheaper then it looks like should still be suitable.

avoid buying from accessories4bikes unless money is really that much of a factor for you...i just ordered the same part from them but i had to wait for them to special order the part from the factory which takes a few business days...the factory then ships it to them after a few business days + shipping time, then once they receive it...they finally send it on its way to you...davidsilverspares however got to me in...2 days? ordered both parts first wednesday of the month and got my top case from davidsilverspares that friday...and i just received my rack from accessories4bikes this past wednesday

note: accessories4bikes isnt bad, they are a good seller and all but IF they have to special order the part since they dont have it with them in their warehouse...it can take a fairly long time...
