Ever wonder what kind of quarter mile time you might get with your 1200? Me too, so I took mine to PIR and had a few runs.

This is the first bike I've ever taken to the track, so I have a lot to learn.
I've got some work to do on my 60ft times and my R/T.
The 1st and 2nd gear bog is a real problem, so I'm going to pick up a PC, Juice Box, or wait for the Bazzaz (need to do more research to make an educated choice)
I'm also shifting using the clutch, so if I just rock the throttle to unload the trans, I should be able to cut some time. My goal is to get into the 10s.
Once I'm there, I'm going to stop beating on this bike, and pick up a dedicated race bike.

I'm the left lane BTW

    Actually it was another VFR!
    ......a VFR 500!
The guy was super consistent though, and all night he was desperately trying to go 100mph.
I guess you don't have to be fast to want to go faster!

A PC, juicebox, or bazzaz z-fi won't do anything for the 1st and 2nd gear bog. It is an ignition retard, and you need a TRE. Nobody offers one yet, but I hear Bazzaz is working on a Z-bomb.

The good news is you can hack it yourself easily. That will get you into the 10s.

Unfortunately not for the DCT riders among us....the "hack" won't work for them :frown:

I have seen a VFR1200FA get into the 10's at my local drag strip....was a 10.8xx @ ~129-130 mph if I remember correctly...ridden by a guy who looked like a midget jockey, he would've been lucky to weigh 55kgs!! I'm pretty sure I've done turds that heavy  He carried the front wheel for a fair distance too, maybe 10-15m or so, sure surprised me.

    Cheers,
    Smithy.

    What are you eating!!?
    LMAO!!!

So, I guess I'm waiting on the Bazzaz module for the gear position hack. I don't want to cut my harness.
As far as the DCT thing, I don't think the tech is quite up to par yet, and now that I hear you can't dyno them, it makes me even happier that I got the regular old clutch and shifter model.

I spoke with my local dealer and told them about the power hole in 1st and 2nd gear. They ran it up the chain, but I haven't heard anything back. I hope Honda releases a proper map that eliminates the problem rather than force us to concoct workarounds. Maybe someone can engineer an ECU flash (HOPING)
