    Hey all,

I just got a toll tag for my vfr. For those not familiar, its a little radio frequency device, a rectangular about 3"x2"x.25". It lets me drive on our N.TX toll roads and drive right through the toll booths without stopping and tossing in change. It just deducts it from my CC. It has velcro strips on it that one side glues to something and the other sticks via velcro so that i can take it with me when i get off my bike.

So my question is have any of you folks used one on your vfr, and if you have where did you mount it? The instructions say it can't be within 1" of metal.

I guess I could put it on my wiindscreen, but man thats kinda ugly. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

I have mine on the windscreen which works well but don't look nice.
If you have the dark screen I beleive it wont be as visible.

Up here in NH they don't have any way to track you if you don't pay at the toll booths unless there is actually a statie sitting at the booth, at least so I've been told. But this means that we have a little more lattitude to experiment with where we place the tag. In my car I just leave mine in a covered storage bin on the top of my dash, and it works just fine. I don't think the placement of the thing is as critical as they claim.

Florida toll roads use a SunPass that is light tan and has suction cups to mount to the inside of a windshield. I spray painted my SunPass flat black and mounted it behind my dark smoke Zero Gravity Sport Touring windscreen. Between the windscreen and the black plastic between the headlights. Fits the curvature of the windscreen perfectly when turned 90 degrees from "normal" position. The flat black paint makes it nearly invisible but doesn't detract from its performance.

I initially had a couple of times when it did not read. I thought perhaps it was because I was riding in the far left wheel track going through the toll booth. Now I ride through in the center of the lane. It reads every time.

I have one mounted on my Suzuki Bandit on the left side of the windscreen. That worked perfectly, but like you suggest looked kind of junkie.

On my VFR I simply keep it in the top portion of my Joe Rocket double tiered tank bag and it works great.

Since we're both in the Dallas area, where do you find good twisties? I moved here last year from out of state and am still looking for a fun ride!

When I got my '03 VFR and was detailing it, I noticed that the previous owner had left the two velcro strips for the tag still attached to the underside of the front fairing - underneath the nose above the front fender. I left it there figuring I might use it someday. It is undetectable when looking at the bike...Just another idea

I experimented going thru the manned lane to see if it worked in different positions. Mine was finicky about being flat. Also had two cycles and kept leaving it behind. Eventually I glued the velcro onto my riding jacket. On the right chest area. I lift up a little going through and it works fine. Don't mind the look.

I just carry mine on the inside of my riding jacket and it works fine here in NY, NJ and PA. I like the idea of up under the front of the fairing. I will look at that on my VFR. I have a friend who put one there and it was OK.

Any more suggestions? Does it look like it would work under the nose? That is the only flat spot that I see. Has it worked for anyone there? I have an E-ZPass transponder that I want to mount.

Try it under the nose at a combination "EZ-Pass or Ticket" lane. Then if it doesn't trip, you can take a ticket.

I have my EZ Tag mounted inside the fairing near where the front forks are. There is not much room down there and it looks like the forks would be toching it when you turn but they don't. Use the 3M adhesive material. The normal adhesive doesn't work well since the area is slightly curved and not straight.

I have mine velcroed inside the front fairing on the right side. Inside so someone can't see it and steal it. The jacket and tank bag thing work, but then if you wear a different jacket, you have to remember to take it, same thing with a tank bag. I don't use mine everday, just every couple of months or so. I put mine in the fairing a few years ago and haven't had a problem with it.

When I purchased my bike from Elwray, I found that he kept his on the underside of the rear seat cowl. It didn't cause any issues - as we found out after the fact (after I had towed it home through a few states and tollbooths!)
