How long does it take for them to heat up? Not any one brand cause there all about the same i'm guessing. but before you start riding hard, how long do you let them warm up?

In Az. probably not long. For me depends on what I'm up to, most of the time it's less than a mile. Speaking of this subject. maybe some have noticed that some folks do the swish swash, side to side thinking that warms up the tire, Mmm not really as good as some medium hard braking does.

i do the side side thing not to warm up the tire but because in my mind i think it may rub off some dirt etc that on the tire before I start pushing it. I could be wrong, but that's what is going through my head. Plus I just like swerving...

RVFR is right about the side to side action, doesn't do anything for you in the warming dept.
Now accellerating (rear tyre) with out oing a burn out:rolleyes: & slowing down quickly (front tyre) with the front brakes compresses the tyre walls creating heat from flexing.

Street tyres heat up much faster than Race slicks & race D.O.T.'s so a mile or two with some assistance from braking as I said above helps warming them up.

Remember there is other factors as in tyre pressure your running, elevation, & outside tempetures.

Even though they may warmed up sooner, I don't like to press street tyres until after 4 to 5 miles of constant movement B-4 I'd press them in some fast turns.

    that,

and it always helps get a feel for the bike,
see if the tyres feel soft, anything rattles (drop off anything you forgot to bolt down)
