tires & brake pad costs?

Hi, looking at getting a used bike - an '06. Apparently it needs a new rear tire & brake pads to get certified. Servicing would be done in Ontario. Just looking for an approximate idea on how much this will cost. As far as tires, I'm looking for decent general purpose tires. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks for the direction, NorCal...I went with one of his suggestions (Pirelli Diablo Stradas) & the price wasn't too outrageous. (The seller agreed to pay for labour.)
