Is it possible to fit a 190/50/17 on the rear of a 90-93 VFR 750? and whats the max size for the front?

    NO!

A 180 is the biggest rear tire size for a third gen and a 120 for the front.

What, are you building a VFR chopper?

Even GSX-R 750's come with a 180 - there really isn't a reason to go beyond the 170 that the VFR comes with...

Why man, it would slow down the turn it rate. I've compared 170 to 180 there's a little faster turn in on the 170, which is a good thing IMO so other than looks theres no reason to go that large of a tire. You can run a 180 no problem you have the rim width for it. I, not so.

    Dang VT and RVFR!

Chill out brothers, we gave the answer LOL!

It doesn;t matter becasue I am pretty sure a 190 rear will rub on the swing arm and/or chain guard.

No 3rd gen will be screwed up with fat tires without some serious mods. So all is right with the world~

Hey RVFR, I have new sneakers on the 97! Pirelli Diablo 170 on the rear...Yeah Baby!

    haha I've had a 180 on since I got it last year. Haven't had a 170 on so I wouldn't know.

VFR chopper? hmmm That's an idea

But like Bubba said, the question was answered and I didn't ask you to compare and contrast the differences between the size of the wheels I can fit on my viffer.

Besides bigger is better. That's what my girlfriend tells me :)

A 180 should theoretically give you a bigger turning circle. Is that better?

    Yep!

Diablo 170 on the rear and a Diablo Corsa III 120 on the front:smile:

Just need to scrub them in all the way and then good to go!

    No offense, but screw looks...

The way the 97 just snaps right over, feels like its riding on rails....mmmmm tasty!

Its just night and day. (I know part of t is the front suspension work I had done too)

The 97 now feels like the 93 I had. I did have a 180 on the 93, but that back rim can fit one.

I can't wait to do a rear shock upgrade!

    Ok so here's the question...

If given a choice, would you get a 160/60 rear tire or a 180/55?

Which would you choose and why?

    Thanks!!!

^ The 160/60 is just stupid. That's too narrow, and the wrong aspect ratio. What's that size for, a GS500?

180/55 will fit, but it will negatively affect the handling (will not turn in as quickly).

Just run the stock 170/60/17 and be done with it.

The 180/55 is ALSO the wrong aspect ratio... and it will effect the handling in a negative way... This I already know.

Seems to me that the 160/60 is closer to the stock ratio and will make the bike more "Flickable".

My Ducati 998 comes with a 190/55 stock, I went down to 180/55 and it became more "Flickable". My question is this, would going down a size to 160/60 have the same effect on my VFR750F? Does anyone know from EXPERIENCE not just heresay?

I've tried the 185/55 on my VFR and it sucks! Makes the bike really sluggish in the twisties...

A 200 will fit on a '97, but it *RUINS* the handling....

See my discovery of that in This thead
