I have been wanting to get one of these kits for some time now especially for rides when I am very far away from home, however I found that MC specific kits were typically $60 - $120.

Today while buying some Mobil 1 and a new filter at the corner auto parts store, I thought I'd check to see if they have a patch kit. Yes they do and for only $20.

It's marketed as an ATV tire patch kit, but I don't see how it wouldn't work on a mc tire. For your reference, it's Brand is Victor under Bell auto products.

I hope this helps some of you save some money and be better prepared for a long distance ride. I am getting tired of companies marketing MC specific items at inflated prices.

I had a flat rear tire on my Buell last week while I was at work. Luckily I had a Monkey Grip plug kit from Wal-Mart (~$4.00) and some CO2 cartridges in my luggage. Pulled out a big ole drywall screw, plugged it and put 5 cartridges of air in it. Enough to get to a compressor. I also carry a can of fix-a-flat just in case, but didn't have to use it. The rear tire hasn't lost any air so far and I think I'll get to use it until I hit the wear bars.
BTW, while I was at Wal-Mart to replenish my CO2 supply, I picked up a little 12v air pump that they had on sale for $4 (from $10). The Ulysses has two
12v sockets on it. So now I've got that and I just put my extra CO2s on the viffer. If you take those little pumps out of the decorative plastic they hardly take up any space.

    Cheers!
    Craig

Plug kits should never cost more than $5. Walmart has kits with small compressors as mentioned above pretty cheap too. I always carry mine when I go far from home. And I don't typically throw a rear tire out that has been patched. Front? Yeah.
