So I put a new chain on. My chain tool broke before getting the link to flare like it was supposed to. I had one of the "clip links" so decided to put that on. The link went in tight. Now I see the link stays in a "kinked" position. Will use take care of this problem or should I try a different solution/link? This is my first chain drive bike since the 70's so I'm a little unsure.

I have seen flared links kink but never a clip link. I would put in a new link and correctly flare it.

Chains, brakes and tyres deserve respect. I would get another soft link too and flare the rivets properly.

Put the proper link on. That is obviously not the correct one or it would fit properly.

Same brand clip link as the chain? Or generic you had lying around? If it was tight before you put the side links on I would change it for sure.

It was a generic I bought from DK. I'll try the original link and see if I can't round a chain tool.

    Thanks guys.
